Senior Coach

Savvas Patikkis

Altona Magic SC has the pleasure to announce the appointment of its new senior head coach Savvas Patikkis.

His football Career started at his boyhood club Brunswick City before taking the opportunity to play at South Melbourne. Savvas made his senior debut at age 16 for Brunswick City scoring on debut.

Having his playing career cut short by injury, Savvas moved into coaching at a relatively young age firstly with Clifton Hill before joining the Senior Coaching staff at Brunswick City. This was followed by the senior appointment at Whittlesea Rangers FC.

As a fully qualified coach including completion of his B-License Savvas bring both a significant playing and coaching background to Altona Magic, with a reputation of turning misfortunes around whilst getting the most out of a playing group.

Taking the reins at Paisley Park will see Savvas take of a new challenge in 2021 as he looks to guide Altona Magic up the Vic NPL table. As the youngest Head Coach Altona Magic believe this could be a long and successful partnership one designed to start to bring through many of our young and talented players as we look to build pipeline of talent from our junior to senior ranks over the forward years.

On being appointed Savvas said: “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take on this challenge. The club has an incredible history and future potential, and the playing group is exceptional. For me, the task at hand is about laying the foundations and focusing on building the future whilst creating a culture that is passionate about the badge they wear. We hope to play attractive football that excites our fans whilst providing opportunities for our younger players to push for a position in our senior men’s team”.

Known as a coach who has good tactical awareness and man management Altona Magic are delighted to have Savvas leading our great club.

Seniors Goalkeeper Coach

Abdul Karin Douly

The Altona Magic board is delighted to announce that Abdul Karin Abdul better known as “Douly”, has been re appointment the clubs Goalkeeper Coach for 2021!

With over 10 years of goalkeeping coaching experience, Douly, the former Zimbabwe national goalkeeper will go into his 3rd consecutive season at the Paisley Park Complex. Douly has built a reputation of combining his extensive playing background with his outstanding ability to mentor and teach others the tricks of the trade and we are sure he will prove an excellent mentor to our goalkeepers!

The club is delighted to have Douly back at Paisley Park in 2021 and we wish him all the best for the upcoming year!

Senior Assistant coach

Craig Moore

Born in northern beaches of Sydney, Craig began playing as a 7 year old for Beacon Hill, before moving to Portsmouth in England with his mum, older brother and twin sisters.

Playing local football Craig undertook his first coaching course (FA Preliminary License) in 1986 and started working for Portsmouth FC in their Community Department.

Taking a break from football, Craig joined the British Army in 1987 and served in Germany for 3 years. On return to England Craig attended the University of England studying Leisure Management and in 1996 started part time coaching work at Ipswich Town. In 2002 he returned to Australia where he briefly played for Hoppers Crossing before persistent injuries brought an end to his playing days. After taking on a number of coaching appointment, Craig elected to step up his expertise completing both his C & B Licenses in Melbourne, before moving on to join Avondale FC as their Technical Director for their 1st year in NPL1.

With a love of the sport and a passionate advocate for learning Craig is due to shortly complete his A License, and is looking forward to continuing to develop and evolve the Magic coaching set-up over the forward years.

Craig currently lives in Melbourne with his wife and daughters and Altona Magic are delighted to have Craig as part of our senior set-up in 2021.
