Altona Magic SC has the pleasure to announce the re-appointment of our senior head coach Savvas Patikkis for season 2022. Savvas made a significant impact culturally on Altona Magic in 2021 and this provided huge confidence that he was the right man to lead the club into the future with a clear focus on youth development and playing attractive high paced football.
Savvas commenced his football career with his boyhood club Brunswick City before taking the opportunity to play at South Melbourne. Savvas made his senior debut at age 16 for Brunswick City scoring on debut.
Having his playing career cut short by injury, Savvas moved into coaching at a relatively young age firstly with Clifton Hill before joining the Senior Coaching staff at Brunswick City. This was followed by the senior appointment at Whittlesea Rangers FC. As a fully qualified coach including completion of his B-License Savvas brings both a significant playing and coaching background to Altona Magic.
In taking the reins properly for 2022 and building a solid base through a full pre-season, Savvas has set his sights on guiding Altona Magic to its highest league finish in recent years. As the youngest Head Coach in the league Altona Magic hope this can be a long and successful partnership one designed to start to bring through many of our young and talented already showing great promise in our junior ranks.
On being re-appointed for 2022 Savvas said: “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue the work we started in 202. The club has an incredible history and based on the talent I have already seen in our juniors a really positive and exciting future. For me, the task at hand is about creating a solid foundation and focusing on building the future, a future centred around being passionate about the badge they wear. We hope to play attractive football that excites our fans whilst providing opportunities for our younger players to push for a position in our senior men’s team”.
Altona Magic are delighted to have Savvas leading our great club.
